THE HRG STORY

First convened as the Hospital Reform Group in 2004 by Emeritus Professor Kerry Goulston AO and colleagues, the group of senior academics and clinicians came together to prompt healthcare policy reform amidst growing public concerns regarding the safety and quality of care being provided in NSW Public Hospitals.

In 2008, a Special Commission of Inquiry into Acute Care Services in NSW Public Hospitals was established to examine the 2002 appointment of Graeme Stephen Reeves, a former registered medical practitioner, to the position of visiting medical officer in obstetrics and gynaecology by the former Southern Area Health Service.

HRG developed this submission to the inquiry.

In 2018, the name of the group was changed to Health Reform Group to reflect the group’s expanded interest in health, social and healthcare policy.
