About US

The Health Reform Group (HRG) is an unincorporated, unaffiliated. unaligned group of leading clinicians, academics and community members interested in advancing issues of importance to the health of Australians.

First convened by Emeritus Professor Kerry Goulston AO in 2004, the group has been meeting on a semi-regular basis for almost 20 years on Wednesdays at 7pm in the same salubrious venue in Sydney’s lower north shore.

The group is interested in a range of contemporary health and healthcare policy domains including healthcare system fairness and efficiency, workforce supply, scope of practice, child and family health, community health and oral health.

While members of the group come from a diverse range of backgrounds such as medicine, nursing, oral health, allied health and health economics, they are asked to contemplate the public interest, rather than ‘represent’ that of their own specific profession or organisation.

Past special guests have included Commonwealth and NSW State Health Ministers, Shadow Health Ministers and their staffers, as well as clinical leaders and senior healthcare bureaucrats from across Australia.

In order to encourage the free and open exchange of ideas, HRG strictly adheres to the Chatham House Rule.

From time to time, we circulate discussion papers and meeting notes.
